Why can't I get a same day appointment?
 
Same day appointments are hard to come by at the Hillside because all of our providers make their schedules in advance, and if they do not have appointments booked for a specific day and time, they do not stand by for walk in or call ins.  If you need a same day appointment we will certainly try to accommodate you and will be happy to put you on the call back list if we have cancellations. 


Why do I get the automated voice mail when I call
?
  Because it is an efficient and effective means of processing client requests and inquiries.  If you get an automated attendant we ask, that you please leave pertinent information so that we can be prepared with the information you need when we return your call.  Another effective way of reaching our spa concierge is via e-mail at concierge@hillsidesalonandspa.com .  E-mail and voice mails are checked frequently throughout the day.  We are here and ready to serve our clients. We are an intimate, unique place of peace in which all of our providers have many responsibilities. We simply are not able to be in all places at once.   

My gift certifcate expires in a few days, but when I called, there were no appointments available before it expires. What can I do?
We truly regret when this happens, however, we must insist that gift certicates be redeemed before the expiration date.  We suggest calling to book as soon as possible after receiving your gift.  It will be helpful to have more than one date in mind for your service as many of our spa services book out weeks in advance.  The Hillside Staff will always try to be as accommodating as possible and we ask that our guest become familiar with and respect our policies.  

What should I wear to the spa?
Wear something comfortable and relaxed.  If you are coming from the office, you may want to bring a change of comfortable clothes for after the treatment.  Wear as little jewelry as possible.  The Hillside Salon and Day Spa, as well as the providers, accept no responsiblity for items that are lost or stolen.  It is best to leave all unnecessary valuables at home.  

Should I wear makeup?
It is best to wear as little make-up as possible when receiving facial treatments. If you feel you must wear make-up post facial, you are welcome to bring your own to apply yourself or you may wish to inquire about touch-ups.

Billing

Something You Should Know:  Hillside Salon and Day Spa providers do separate billing.  If you purchase a package on line your credit card or bank statement will reflect charges for each service separately.  If you purchase a gift certificate at our physical location, each provider will process your credit card for the service they are providing in the package.  The Spa Concierge coordinates the payment of online and in house purchases and will be happy to explain this policy in more detail to you.  You will receive all appropriate discounts and you will never be double billed for services, by the Hillside or the providers. That is our guarantee or the service is free.

Tipping

I have never been to a spa before. Do I add a gratuity?
Gratuities are not expected by providers, but are appreciated.  If you would like to tip you may add a gratuity to your charge slip or you may present it to the provider directly.   


At the Hillside Salon and Day Spa we really want to please our guests.  We think it is important for you to know that we are not a traditional, commission based facility.  We offer a unique, personalized experience for our guests.  
Because we are indpendant the way we do things is different. If you need same day services we are happy to make recommendations to other facilities.  We do use our automated voice mail system to process appointment requests.  If a reception attendant is not available, please leave your name and telephone number, and your call will be returned within 24 hours.
